HOW DO I GET TO MARFA? ↓

For those road tripping: Marfa is located on Highway 90, about 7 hours from Austin, 8 hours from Tucson, and 7 hours from Santa Fe. Los Angeles is about 17 hours away, and an excellent starting point for a great Southwestern road trip! Be sure to tune into Marfa Public Radio as you get close to town. Whatever you do, never, ever speed in Far West Texas, as Border & Highway Patrol are out in full force in these parts and they will absolutely pull you over.

For those flying: The closest major airports are in El Paso and Midland, which are both about 3 hours away. Both airports offer rental cars.

For those with access to private aviation, Marfa does have a private airport (KMRF) just a few minutes from town. The airport is also a well-known glider/sailplane center that was recognized as a “landmark of soaring” by the National Soaring Museum.

For those riding trains: Amtrak makes daily stops in Alpine, which is about 25 minutes away.

For those hitching: Marfalist is where you’ll find a ride.

WHAT IS THE WEATHER IN MARFA LIKE? ↓

Marfa is located in a semiarid desert grassland plateau about 4,830 above sea level. Summers see a mixture of dry, desert heat and epic monsoons. Winters can get cold, with the occasional snowstorm. It’s best to pack for all kinds of weather in the desert, but the two most important accessories are a hat and a jacket. It’s also guaranteed that you will see some of the best sunsets of your life here.
